A 68-year-old man has finally found the love of his life after two failed marriages and a lifetime of searching.
The man, who has chosen not to reveal his identity explains that after his first marriage ended, his ex-wife took their children and all but disappeared. “All these years I was never able to find her,” he says.
He then went on to marry again and began a second family with his new bride. That marriage ended in divorce in 2009. Heartbroken and alone, he also wound up in a poor financial condition, because of the terms of the divorce settlement.
Like the saying goes, “unlucky in cards, lucky in love,” the man soon experienced a change of fortune. In 2011 he won several million dollars playing powerball.
Taking his new found wealth, he moved from a tiny apartment to a high-end waterfront home in Golden Beach, Florida. While the money made living easier, it did not provide him with a meaningful relationship.
“The only people who wanted to see me were my ex-wife and kids, and they were always asking for money,” he said, speaking with local papers.
In 2015, he decided to throw his hat back in the ring and try his hand at dating once more. Signing up with a local agency whose specialty is matching older men with younger women, he was soon inundated with profiles of potential mates.
He says “They had a website with profiles of many attractive younger girls,” but then he found one in particular that left him breathless.
Speaking about the first time he saw the picture of one 24-year-old woman he said, “I just felt something strange when I saw her photos. It was like a sense of deja vu, but at the time I couldn’t figure out why she seemed so familiar.”
Working with the dating agency, he arranged a first date with the 24-year-old Jacksonville woman. She was a single mother and exotic dancer.
On their first date, they immediately felt a connection. “We hit it off right from when she walked into the restaurant,” he says as he describes the beginning of their courtship.
They continued to see each other and the relationship became serious. On New Year’s Eve 2015, he proposed to her, and she accepted. “I was thrilled when she accepted, and the day that we were married was the happiest of my life.”
Their relationship moved up a notch as they began the process of making a life together. Then one day as they were looking through old family pictures, something peculiar occurred.
The woman recognized her father in some of the photos. She says “When I saw my father in that photo album, I just felt an overwhelming sense of despair.”
As it turns out, she was the man’s granddaughter. His son from the first marriage was his new bride’s father.
Now that they have discovered the nature of their relationship, are they planning to divorce?
“If we’d never have found out, we would’ve lived our lives happily together, and us being related shouldn’t change that,” the man said. “I’ve already had two failed marriages, and I’m determined not to have a third.”
And his wife/ granddaughter? “Every couple is different and special in their own ways. I feel our bond is so strong that even something like this is not enough to make us give up.”
