Unbeaten bantamweight prospect ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley made his debut in the Legacy Fighting Alliance promotion last night and picked up his seventh professional victory with a first-round KO of David Nuzzo at LFA 11 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Given the spectacular nature of that KO, however, it’s unlikely that the 22-year-old native of Helena, Montana will be hanging around LFA for too much longer.
Nuzzo, who came into the bout sporting a solid 9-1 record, was dropped by an overhand left a little over two minutes into the fight but bounced back up and threw a wild right in response. O’Malley easily avoided the shot and Nuzzo’s momentum took him off balance, resulting in another brief trip to the canvas. O’Malley, not as sweet as his nickname suggests, pounced on his rattled foe. As Nuzzo rose from the floor for a second time, he was hit with a roundhouse kick to the body that forced him into the fence. What followed was a perfectly timed and executed wheel kick that landed right on Nuzzo’s chin, causing him to collapse to the ground like a puppet whose strings had suddenly been snipped.
It’s a KO that is likely to go viral today and ultimately capture the attention of the talent scouts from the big leagues. Expect to see Sean O’Malley in either the UFC or Bellator very soon.
